I just done a Speed Test for my Mac and I got 1183kbps download (from Maidenhead which is closer)!Then I got 1351kbps download (from London slightly further away). Anyways I thought this was ok but not for me as I’m on BT Broadband Business which should be fast connection. Anyways after I began downloading a 991 MB file and my download speed was 91.4kb/sec. Is my Internet slow or am I supposed calculate my Speed Test Result to get 91.4kb?And also what’s a good Internet provider?I heard Virgin has some immense internet!

That sounds accurate to me. I’ve seen IPs that resolve to btcentralplus and that’s about the speed I see from them. Why do you think it sounds off? Do you pay for more than that?
Also, are you sure that you did not make a typographical error when you wrote 91.4kb/sec? If you meant 94.1kB/sec, then this is more or less the same speed you should be expecting since 1183/8=147.875.
If you did not make a typographical error, however, then you do, indeed, have some kind of an issue that you should contact your ISP about.
As for the best ISP, I’m afraid that I can’t really answer that since I don’t live in the UK and do not know a great deal about all of the different ISPs.
Sounds perfectly normal. The speed of download dont just depend of the location of the server but also it’s load and specifications…usually as well as bandwidth. This could be why you got faster results from london than you did in the closer location.
Oh and Virgin Media is FANTASTIC! I am on the XL package which give me 20mb unlimited downloads. So I usually get 12Mbps on speedtest website.
