I use the html link code except I have a rollover button instead of the link there. When I go to the site and click for download it just plays it in my browser but doesn’t download it. If I try and save it, it says it’s a Quicktime Movie?? (obviously I’m a Mac user). I use Explorer 5.1 for my old Mac and Safari for my OS X one. Is it just my browser set up or my HTML?
I did turn off the plugins for the MIME and the file did come in as a download on my computer so okay, that worked for me. But, does that mean every users to my website has to do that to get the free downloads or is there some way to code it so it will just download? Could that mean setting up a special file or something on my host’s server? An FTP link or something? And I’m not a programmer, I just saw some example HTML that used FTP in it’s code. When I tried that, and clicked it wanted some login name and passwrd stuff which I didn’t know what to do let alone users to my site.
My MP3 files for free downloads from my site just play but don’t download when I test them?
CBow asked:

Do you have access to change MIME type settings on your site?
Media files like MP3 and QuickTime are supposed to play in browser by default; changing the MIME Type will force a download.
