Sam M asked:

Recently i got a imac G3 off trademe. it had os 9.0 and i upgraded it to 9.2.2. then i payed $100NZD to have the ram upgraded. then i brought the mac os x 10.2.0 jaguar CD set off trademe. today the apple update software application said there was an upgrade for my mac. so i downloaded it and then shortly after a little grey box appeared on the screen saying i needed to restart my computer. it told me to press and hold the power button but it didnt work. so i turned it off then back on at the wall socket. it then done the little ‘durnnnnnnnnn’ sound and it spent over an hour doing the little grey screen boot up. it has been like that for ages. please help me. it sunday and i cant call apple because they are closed. and my essay is on that mac and it is due in on wednesday.

SPECS:
iMac G3
233MHZ
256MB of ram
4GB HD

os 9.2.2 still isntalled

i also still have the isntall CD’s for mac os x 10.2.0
install CD’s 1,2

please HELP me !

well this is the cool thing about macs…unlike windows you boot the computer in cd mode. once your there you should see the hard drive mounted. look for your file and back it up either cd, external hard drive, or attach it in an e-mail. once you did that reinstall the mac. you should reinstall os 9 first then update the firmware for your iMac. after you have done that update the os to 9.2.2 then upgrade it to osx. i hope this helped. if you have any questions you can e-mail me
