Corey asked:

I have a Lexmark X4530. I know it says the operating systems that it works with is MS Windows XP, MS Windows 2000, Apple Mac OS X 10.3.x, MS Windows XP Professional x64 Edition, MS Windows Vista. I run Windows 2003 and when I try to install Windows tells me that the program is not tested with my version of windows and basically says my system will explode if I install it. Is it really a big risk to install it? I would have thought that since it was 2000 certified it would be 2003 certified…

Thanks for your help.

This printer was bought wireless, but since moving house my laptop cannot access it. In order to access the printer I need to enter the IP address manually. The printer manual tells me that printing a test page will contain the IP address for the printer, but it seems to be just a load of code and no clear IP address i.e. nothing with ***.xxx.x.x is displayed. By the way I am using Mac OS X (tiger).

I just bought a printer for my mac (running OS X) and installed the software and drivers that were on the disk. I test printed a page and it printed beautifully. I also printed a document from Text Edit. However, when I tried to print a Word document, I received an error message saying that I needed to either check the test center to make sure that my printer was selected or to change the printer settings. I have reinstalled the software twice now, and the error message is the same. And yes, my printer is selected. I have two questions. How do I adjust my “printer settings” so that I can print from word? If that does not work, what else could be the problem?

I just bought a HP 7310 all in one printer. I loaded the enclosed software and followed all of the enclosed instructions, but the printer won’t print. I unistalled and reinstalled the software sseveral times, all to no avail. It still doesn’t work.
I tried a test to prove that the printer is communicating with the Mac. I pressed the scan button on the printer and the scan DOES appear on the PC. So I know they’re talking to each other. But it doesn’t want to print anything. There is a “start job and stop job” feature on the Mac, which can be accessed, but that window isn’t always available, why I don’t know. When I do see it, I always press “start job” but it doesn’t seem to help. The printer still won’t start.

So here I sit with a brand new printer that won’t print. Please note, I’m a complete novice, so any answer will have to lead me by hand as to how to resolve this problem.

Thanks for all your time and thoughts.
