Jay asked:

I have been testing my new Mac book pro (13 inch) for the past 5-6 days and everything seems to be awesome, except the battery power. I am not sure whether I have a defective product or whether its just the way mac works…Before buying the notebook, it said it had 7 hrs of battery power. 2 employees also said that the battery power will be around a good 7 hours (including music listening, some youtube, internet stuff, etc)

I wrote a time sheet to see how long it takes for the battery power to die out and from the 3 times I’ve used it and charged it, it seems only 5 hours of battery power have come out of a fully charged one. Is 5 hours from a completely charged battery to completely dead typical?

When I use(d) skype it lost 70% of battery in 2 hrs. Do you think I have a defective notebook or does video chatting really kill the battery that much?

And I just bought a new DVD that is from Disney and suddenly, near the climax part, it kept on saying “Skipping Over Damaged Area”
I have tested on my other Mac computer, same result. Same thing for the VLC Player. I noticed that my DVD wasn’t making any sounds at all when it said that quote.
What’s going on with my Mac computers? I just want to play my movies peacefully in my room.
I only own one TV and it is the only one that has the DVD player. The main problem, there’s always someone watching TV so I never had the chance to go near it.
